Meet Sean, the human behind Greenflagged.

Sean Madden

I’m on the left. That’s Wallace on the right.

After 15+ years in the software industry, I’ve worked all across the board. Big tech, small companies, and everything in between. Now I’m working to improve developers’ lives by making security a little bit easier with Greenflagged.

What I do

I’m currently working full-time on greenflagged.dev and sharing what I’ve learned on this blog.

Why Greenflagged

I always thought that enterprises would pay good money for quality protection against supply-chain attacks in dependencies. When I worked in big tech, the company expected you to review any dependencies you imported to the internal package manager. AI and LLMs have made this task possible at a much larger scale, and I hope to bring enterprise-level protection from supply-chain threats to everyone that needs it.

Background

I graduated from college with a computer science degree and started working immediately. I landed a job at a Navy contractor and spent a year there before moving on to a smaller company focused on embedded systems. After about a year at that company, Amazon moved me out to Seattle, where I’ve lived ever since. I worked on last-mile logistics services, Seller Central ads, and what would later become Amazon Honeycode (now defunct). After that I worked in fintech for a bit, at a company that sold digital gift cards. I helped scale that business to handle over a billion dollars a year in transaction value. Most recently I operated gigantic observability clusters at Slack.
